Arson attack leaves couple scared to return home - full report

A deaf couple whose home was deliberately targeted by arsonists say they're terrified to return in case it happens again. Michael and Angela Broderick run the British Sign Language Learning Centre from their home in Burbage in Leicestershire.

Their house was destroyed by a number of gas explosions. Speaking through an interpreter, they told our reporter Jane Hesketh how traumatic it had been.

A deaf couple whose home was destroyed in an arson attack say they are terrified of returning in case it happens again.

Michael and Angela Broderick from Burbage in Leicestershire had a narrow escape, after they were pulled from their bungalow by police.

Speaking through an interpreter, they told ITV News Central about their ordeal.

Michael and Angela Broderick, who are both deaf, escaped with minor injuries after being trapped in their own bungalow on the 12th August.

They survived thanks to recently-fitted fire alarms, designed for the hearing-impaired, which vibrated under their pillows and woke them both.
