Friends pay tribute to Leicester man who died in Barcelona

A former colleague of Joe Smith, who has died while on holiday in Barcelona, have paid tribute to him as a well-liked man who was respected by all.

Mr Smith used to work at The Lansdowne pub in the city before moving to The Orange Tree, his favourite bar, where he had recently be promoted.

Mr Smith, who was in his twenties, was on holiday with friends and his girlfriend.

Fundraising hits £3500 target

A fundraising page set up in memory of Joe Smith from Leicester, who died while on holiday in Barcelona, has reached £3505.

222 people have made the pledges in just 15 hours.

He was reportedly abroad without travel insurance and the money raised will pay to bring his body back to the UK.
