A teenager has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of Antoin Akpom. Abdul Hakim, 19, of Wood Hill, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court this morning.

Teenager remanded into custody for Leicester murder

A teenager has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of Antoin Akpom.

The 20-year-old was assaulted in Kent Street, Leicester, at about 5.30pm on September 12.

Abdul Hakim, 19, of Wood Hill, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court this morning.

He spoke to confirm his name name, age, address, and that he understood the charge against him.

No application for bail was made and he was remanded in custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court via videolink on October 2.

Man charged with murder of Antoin Akpom

A 19 year-old man has been charged with the murder of Antoin Akpom in Leicester.

The 20 year-old was stabbed to death on Kent Street in Leicester last Thursday evening (12 September).

The 19 year-old is expected to appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court tomorrow (18 September).
