First World War trench recreated in Nottinghamshire

Former trenches used to train First World War soldiers in Nottinghamshire have been returned to their former state as part of a project to mark 100 years since the conflict.

The trenches, at Sherwood Pines Forest Park in Old Clipstone, Mansfield, are being dug out again and dressed up to give visitors a taste of what conditions soldiers had to work in.

Work has begun to clear old trenches used to train soldiers in Nottinghamshire during the First World War.

The old trenches at Sherwood Pines Forest Park in Nottinghamshire are being recreated to mark the centenary of the conflict.

At one point up to 30,000 men were accommodated here at a special training camp between 1915 and 1920.
