CCTV used in hunt for New Street sex assault suspect

Detectives are trawling through CCTV footage from Birmingham New Street to try to track down a man who groped a number of women at the station on Wednesday.

The man got off at the station at around 6.30pm, and spent an hour roaming the station, using the bustling crowds as a cover while he touched women inappropriately.

They have also urged anyone who thinks they spotted the culprit, or were assaulted, to come forward.

CCTV footage of a man wanted in connection with the investigation has now been released.

Unwanted sexual behaviour of any kind on the railway is not tolerated and we take all allegations extremely seriously.

We want victims of crime to feel confident that they can come forward and speak it to BTP in total confidence.

This is a very clear image, and I am sure there will be someone out there who recognises the man.

If you have any information which can assist detectives in this investigation, please come forward.
