A man and a woman involved in a fatal shooting in Nottinghamshire have been named locally as a long-term couple.
Police believe Paul White, aged 37, shot his partner Shani Cockerell, 33, before turning the gun on himself.
Two children - believed to have been the couple's - were in the house at the time of the shooting in the early hours of yesterday morning, but were not injured.
Mr White was declared dead at the scene while Ms Cockerell was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital.
She was today described as being in a serious but stable condition.
Neighbours have described the pair as having been together for a long time.
Police have confirmed they are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.

Det Ch Insp Mel Bowden said they believe a 33-year-old woman, who lived with the man at the same address, was "the victim" in the incident.
She was found with shotgun injuries and was today in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

We are satisfied that the injured female was a victim in this incident.
Until a post mortem examination is carried out next week we will not be in a position to formally identify the deceased.
However, we believe he was the offender in this case and will not be looking for any further suspects.
