Woman charged over Walsall house fire death

A woman has been charged with murder after a man died in a house fire in Walsall on Christmas Day.

The blaze happened in South Street Gardens, Caldmore at around 5:30pm on December 25.

57-year-old Susan Buckley is charged with murder and is due to appear at Walsall Magistrates on Monday morning.

Detectives are not yet naming the 58-year-old male victim, but have confirmed he died as a result of smoke inhalation.


Patrols stepped up around scene of fatal house fire

Officers have stepped up patrols around the centre of a murder investigation after a man was killed in a blaze on Christmas Day.

Emergency services were called to South Street Gardens in Caldmore, Walsall, at around 5.30pm to find the 58-year-old dead at the scene.

A 57-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Det Insp Gary Plant, who is leading the investigation, appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The 58-year-old man was killed in the fire which ripped through the house in South Street Gardens, Caldmore, Walsall, at around tea time. He has yet to be formally identified.

A 57-year-old woman was arrested later that evening and she remains in custody today.
