An elderly woman has gone missing from her home in Great Barr in Birmingham. Police believe Julie Middleton left her house on Queslett Road at some point overnight.

Police have called off the search for pensioner Julie Middleton after finding the body of a woman in open water in Great Barr this afternoon.

The discovery was made at around 3pm today at Queslett Nature Reserve behind the supermarket.

Police say the body has yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the 73 year-old.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The 73-year-old is described as white, 5ft 2ins tall and very thin. She has shoulder length light brown hair with highlights and may be wearing a black coat, black trousers and black shoes.

Police are appealing for help.
