Police have formally identified the body of a women found in Derby on Sunday morning.

Yvette Hallsworth, 36, was found dead by a member of public behind houses on Hartington Street in Normanton.

A post-mortem examination has revealed she died from stab wounds.

Police say she was known to have been working as a prostitute and are appealing for witnesses.

Officers say the woman, in her 30's, was found on Hartington Street in Normanton by a member of the public.

She was wearing distinctive camouflage patterned leggings and a black fleece top. Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit are leading the investigation, and are appealing for anyone who saw her in the area to come forward.

Post-mortem after woman's murder in Derby

Police say investigations are continuing after the murder of a woman in Derby.

The body of a woman believed to be in her 30s was found shortly after 11am on Sunday (April 6) in the Normanton area of the city.

The discovery was made on a service road at the back of houses on Hartington Street.

The victim has yet to be formally identified, officers say she is white, around 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build with shoulder-length dark hair.

A post-mortem examination is taking place today to establish the cause of death.

Police and forensic experts continue are also continuing to examine the scene and house to house enquiries are taking place.
