Major delays after two lorries crash on M1 motorway

Severe delays are reported on the M1 through Leicestershire after two lorries crashed on the southbound carriageway.

Delays on the M1 southbound have hit one hour and 30 minutes after two lorries crashed in the early hours of this morning.

The crash happened between J23 A512 (Loughborough) and J22 A50 / A511 (Coalville). Congestion is tailing back to J23a A42.

Diversions are in place, encouraging people to leave the motorway at J23, follow the Hollow Circle symbol signed diversion, via the A512, B591 and the A511 to rejoin at J22.

All three lanes are currently closed on the M1 Southbound between J23 and J22 for Coalville after a crash involving two Heavy Goods Vehicles.

There are delays of around 30 minutes and Highways Agency Staff are trying to release trapped traffic.
