Leicester City are to celebrate their Championship title with an open-top bus parade through the city this afternoon.

Many of Leicester City's players gave interviews while on an open top bus parade of the city over the weekend, to celebrate the Championship title achievement and promotion to the Premier League.

The club spoke to the manager, Nigel Pearson, and players including David Nugent, Matty James, Danny Drinkwater and Andy King while on the bus tour.

Sam Bailey to sing 'We Are the Champions'

X Factor winner Sam Bailey has taken to the stage to entertain the crowds celebrating Leicester City's promotion.

Starting off with Power of Love, she also sang her winner's hit Skyscraper, with the promise that she would treat the crowd to a rendition of We Are the Champions later on.

Crowds start to gather for Foxes promotion party

Hundreds of fans have started to gather in Leicester city centre ahead of an afternoon of festivities marking the Foxes' promotion to the Premier League.

Waving club flags and wielding banners reading: "We are Premier League", the fans cheered as DJs kicked off the occasion.

The team will go on an open-top bus tour of the city to mark both the promotion and winning the Championship title.

It will be followed by an after-party at the club's grounds with 4,000 fans, starring Leicester-born X Factor winner Sam Bailey.

Tickets to Foxes after-party sold out

Tickets to the Leicester City promotion after-party, starring X Factor winner Sam Bailey, have now sold out.

Thousands of fans have seized the chance to celebrate with the team and management, with live music and a Q&A session also on the cards.

People who do not have a ticket are warned not to go to the event as there will be no tickets on the door.

X Factor's Sam Bailey to sing live at Foxes after-party

X Factor winner and Foxes fan Sam Bailey will sing live at Leicester City's celebration after-party tonight.

Up to 4,000 fans will be able to join the squad in the grounds of the King Power Stadium for the party, which will also include a live band, DJs, a Q&A with the manager and players, and the chance to take pictures with the team and their trophy.

It forms part of the club's celebrations as they prepare to join the Premier League next season, as well as claiming the Championship title.

The party will kick off at 3.30pm, after a bus tour through the city centre.

Motorists are warned of a string of road closures in Leicester city centre today as an open-top bus tour celebrates the city's football team breaking into the Premier League.

The following roads will be closed between 2pm and 4pm:

  • High Street
  • East Gates
  • Gallowtree Gate
  • Granby Street
  • Northampton Street
  • Bishop Street
  • Every Street
  • Horsefair Street
  • Bowling Green Street

In addition, the following roads will be closed between 11.45am and 1pm due to a Trade Union procession:

  • London Road (between Mayfield Road and Charles Street)
  • Charles Street (between Rutland Street and St Georges Way)
  • Northampton Street
  • East Gates
  • Gallowtree Gate
  • Granby Street
