61 year old cyclist dies following multi-vehicle crash

A 61 year old local man has died after a multi-vehicle crash in Shropshire this morning.

The cyclist was discovered by a tractor driver around 5am between Bayston Hill and Church Stretton.

Police say it's believed he may have been involved in an accident with another vehicle that failed to stop following the incident.

Police say the victim's not yet been formally identified.

The road is closed due to an investigation into the accident which happened this morning just north of Cockpitt Cottage.

The A49 in Bayston Hill, Shropshire, is closed due to an investigation into a multi-vehicle crash just north of Cockpitt Cottage this morning.

Hereford Road is closed between the A5112 / A5 (Dobbies Island) and B4371 Sandford Avenue.

Diversions are in place. Northbound traffic is being taken along the B4371 at Church Stretton east to Much Wenlock. At the A458, take the A458 north to A5.

Southbound traffic is diverted from Hollow Circle. At the A5/A49 junction, take the A458 south to Morville. At B4368 head west to A49 at Craven Arms.
