Hedgehogs maimed by strimmer-wielding gardeners

A Gloucestershire animal sanctuary has taken in around 100 injured hedgehogs who have become unwitting victims of enthusiastic gardeners.

Gardeners are being warned they could seriously hurt hedgehogs if they use strimmers and rakes under hedges.

Animal sanctuary Vale Wildlife near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire has more than 100 hedgehogs at the moment.

Some of them have been maimed by garden tools.
