Chancellor Philip Hammond has announced transport spending of £90 million for the North and £23 million for the Midlands to address pinch points on roads.
Former chancellor George Osborne sent his successor a message of support on the day of his first Budget.
In a tweet to Philip Hammond, he wrote: "Good luck Philip with the first of what I hope will be many successful budgets.
"Standing there with that red box is quite a moment. Enjoy it!"
