Olympic rower Anna Watkins confirms pregnancy

The Olympic gold medalist, Anna Watkins has confirmed that she is expecting a baby.

It ends speculation that she might return to rowing in time for the coming season.

Anna, who is 30-years-old and from Longsdon in Staffordshire won gold with her rowing partner Katherine Grainger at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Anna confirmed the pregnancy on twitter over the weekend.

Olympic gold medallist rower Anna Watkins has arrived in Leek to show her medal and be congratulated by the town.

Anna, a former resident of Longsdon, triumphed in the London 2012 Olympics as one half of the Gold Medal team in the women’s double sculls rowing event.
