A shotgun was fired during a robbery at a bookmakers in Ilkeston last night. Two masked offenders burst into Coral Bookmakers, in Nottingham Road, at about 9:30pm.
They threatened members of staff with the firearm, before pulling the trigger. No one was injured and the pair fled empty-handed.
They were white, in their 20s and were wearing dark clothing.

Police investigating an attempted armed robbery at the Heart of England Co-op in Rugby shortly after 7:30pm last Wednesday night (March 6), have now released a video of the incident in the hope of catching the offender.
The video shows the hooded assailant use a weapon wrapped in a plastic bag to jab a female staff member in the face, causing injuries to her left eye which needed hospital treatment.
He then left the store empty handed.
The offender is described as a white male with a scarf covering the lower part of his face. He is thought to be in his 20s, about 5'8 to 5' 10" tall and slim build.
Richard Barnfather said the experience was so surreal. He watched his partner being manhandled and degraded. He said she has suffered physical and mental scarring.
