Timelapse video of repairs to Harbury landslip line

Network Rail has released a timelapse video showing their progress in repairing the line from Leamington Spa to Banbury.

It has been closed since 31 January, when a 350,000 tonne landslip happened near Harbury, a few miles south of Leamington Spa.

The line reopened today, three weeks ahead of schedule, as Wesley Smith reports.

The railway line between Leamington Spa and Banbury is due to reopen today - three weeks earlier than originally expected.

It has been closed since 31 January following a 350,000 tonne landslip near Harbury, a few miles south of Leamington Spa.

The key route between Birmingham and London Marylebone is used by 130 passenger and freight trains a day.

Two injured in light aircraft crash near Banbury

Two people have been injured in a light aircraft crash near Banbury.

It happened just before 12 noon at the Shotteswell Farm airfield.

The aircraft had been carrying two occupants at the time of the incident. One man believed to be in his 70’s was treated for a suspected fractured leg.

He was fully immobilised and given pain relief at the scene before being airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further assessment and treatment.

A second man, believed to be in his late 60’s, had sustained minor injuries. He was assessed and discharged at the scene.

The B4100 is closed in both directions and may be for some time while investigations take place.

Police search for missing 13-year-old girl

Police are issuing an urgent appeal for the public’s help to find missing schoolgirl Chloe Woodlock.

The 13-year-old was last seen t her home in Middleton Cheney near Banbury at 8am this morning.

Chloe is white with short, cropped mousey hair. She was last seen wearing black trousers, black school shoes and a blue hoody, and was carrying an orange rucksack.

Police are asking anybody who sees her to call 101 or 999.


Former police officer jailed for stealing accident victims' details and selling them on

A former police officer has been jailed for stealing thousands of accident victims' details from her force computer and selling the information to solicitors' firms.

26-year-old Sugra Hanif from Banbury, who worked for Thames Valley Police, and 27-year-old Raza Khan, from Handsworth in Birmingham, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office.

Hanif, who was dismissed from the force, has been jailed for three and a half years. Khan has been given a three year prison sentence.
