Man who slapped pensioner in road rage attack to be sentenced
A man from is due to be sentenced today for slapping an 81 year old woman across the face in a road rage incident. It happened as Patricia Pearson was driving to her husband's care home in Burton upon Trent.
Usman Yasin, who's 30, claimed he was acting in self defence but was found guilty of assault last month. He was told he may face a jail sentence.
A man driving a mobility scooter has died after suffering multiple injuries in a crash with a bus.
Staffordshire Police said the elderly victim was pronounced dead after being airlifted to hospital following the accident in the Stretton area of Burton-upon-Trent.
The driver of the bus, a man aged in his 60s, and his passengers were not injured in the collision, which occurred in Princess Way at about 12.30pm.
"Crews arrived to find a man on a disability scooter and a bus that had been in a serious collision.
"The man was airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire, where a trauma team were on standby.
"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews at the scene and the trauma team at hospital, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital."
