Six ex-rugby players are ready to take on a challenge in which they hope to raise £5,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The men, aged between 28 and 58, will begin the 30 mile narrowboat pull at 10am tomorrow in Birmingham and are hoping to finish by 3pm on Saturday in Worcester.

The team members will each take it in turns to man the ropes of the 20 tonne boat.

Neil Evans, a member of the team, said: "When I was living on a boat last year I was trying to think of a way to raise money for Cancer Research UK. After watching a marathon on the television I started to wonder if I could pull a boat the same distance."
