A murderer who prowled the streets of Nottingham at night looking for lone women, has been jailed for life at Nottingham Crown Court.

A court has heard that a woman was refused a lift by two police officers, hours before she was found dead.

The body of 28-year-old mother of two Caroline Coyne was discovered in an alleyway in Nottingham last July.

24-year-old Carl Powell denies her murder.

Today at his trial two Special Constables gave evidence and denied treating Caroline Coyne's request for a lift as a joke.

A court has been hearing how a man accused of murdering a young mother, deliberately targeted drunk and vulnerable women.

Last year Caroline Coyne's body was discovered in an alleyway. She had suffered head injuries and been sexually assaulted.

Today Carl Powell appeared at Nottingham Crown Court accused of her murder. He denies the charges.
