The funeral of Coventry soldier Corporal Michael John Thacker is getting underway at the city's Cathedral this afternoon.

Corporal Thacker was shot while manning an observation post in Afghanistan on June 1st.

The Repatriation of Cpl Michael John Thacker, from 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh, who lived in Coventry, is to take place today.

The plane is due to land at 1:30pm and the cortege is due to pass by the Memorial Garden at just after 4pm.
