Derbyshire Council jobs cut
Derbyshire County Council has announced that 1600 people will lose their jobs, which is roughly 10% of the workforce.
The announcement was made as the local authority set out its budget for the next year. The council needs to make savings of £47.2million in the next financial year.
A union-organised protest is currently taking place outside the offices of Herefordshire Council over planned cuts to libraries and museums.
The UNISON branch of Herefordshire, who organised the protest, says Herefordshire Council has proposed a 75% reduction in the library service budget over the next two years.
