Eight people have been arrested this morning (March 26) following disorder at last year's English Defence League (EDL) demonstration in Walsall.
Officers made early morning calls at homes across Tipton, West Bromwich, Brownhills and Acocks Green.
Protesters from the EDL and a counter demonstration group descended on Walsall town centre on Saturday 29 September 2012, with numbers attending the events reaching around 1,000.
A large scale operation was carried out by West Midlands Police to ensure the safety of people visiting the town on the day.
The English Defence League Rally in Redditch has gone ahead this lunchtime.
Market traders went home early and pubs stayed close amid fears of violence.
A significant anti-EDL protest took Place nearby with Police from forcesacross the Midlands keeping the opposing groups well-apart.
The EDL say they want to raise awareness of their fears over paedophiliain the town.
Those opposing them say the claims are nonsense and the EDLhas no place in their town.
Superintendent Adrian Pass says West Mercia Police have enough resources in place to ensure public safety and to minimise disruption to shoppers as the EDL prepare to march through Redditch today.
