'First responders' service to get loaned vehicle

Local car manufacturer MG have promised to loan the Birmingham and Solihull 'First responders' service a car so they can go out to 999 calls.

The vehicle is fully kitted out with medical equipment and means the team can operate 24/7 as well as reduce costs.

Although the ambulance service provides the first responder volunteers with medical training, all equipment and other costs have to be funded through donations and support from the public.

A first responder is a volunteer trained to national standards who responds to 999 calls.
