Bull Ring open market is joining forces with three food banks to help put Christmas meals on the table for struggling Birmingham families.
Shoppers buying their fresh fruit and vegetables for the festive season will be encouraged to generously donate a few items of food at a special foodbank collection point down at the outdoor Bull Ring open markets.
The special joint Christmas food collection will see the open markets working in partnership with three Birmingham Trussell Trust foodbanks including: Aston and Nechells, Birmingham Central and Sparkhill Foodbank to help families in need in our local communities this Christmas.
A new food bank in the Midlands has opened in Nottinghamshire.
The centre at a church in Gedling will give away food to families referred by local authorities or health services.
They have already collected three tonnes of food.
