Thousands head to Leicester for Pride festival

Thousands of people have crowded into the streets of Leicester as the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities celebrate the fifth annual Pride festival.

A parade was held, taking people through the city centre before ending up in Victoria Park, where there is music, cabaret and dancing, as well as a fairground and stalls.

Hundreds of people came out to celebrate Leicester Pride today.

The event started with a parade from the city's Curve Theatre just after midday before it made its way through the city centre and then to Victoria Park, where celebrations are still ongoing.

Leicester Pride parade route

Leicester Pride gets underway from 12.00 today (1 September).
