Woman hit by lorry dies
A woman has died after being hit by a lorry on the A50 in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 3.20am this morning.

Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save the female pedestrian and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
The lorry driver was checked over at the scene by ambulance crews for the effects of shock but did not require further treatment.
Six fire engines are dealing with a large building fire on the The Stand in Longton in Staffordshire.
The fire services are currently reporting that 3 floors of the building are alight.
A5007 Uttoxeter Road in Longton near Stoke-on-Trent is closed in both directions due to an unsafe building between Landon Street and Chadwick Street.
Buses are being diverted via Sutherland Road. Latest reports are that the road may re-open on Thursday morning. The road remains open to pedestrians.
