West Midlands Police say they are treating the death of a man, whose body was found on land beneath the M6 flyover yesterday (Saturday April 7) as unexplained.

19-year-old student Thomas Healy, from Kingstanding, was last seen walking along the elevated section of the hard shoulder of the northbound M6 between junctions 5 and 6 around 0007 hours, police said.

It is thought he had earlier travelled in a minibus on the M6 northbound with friends on his way into Birmingham for a night out. Police say they believe the minibus stopped on the hard shoulder and Thomas got out of the vehicle at around 11.45pm

His body was found at about 4.34pm yesterday afternoon near the Hurricane Park Industrial Estate, Heartlands Parkway, Erdington.
