Two arrested in connection with murder of Nottingham teenager

Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Malakai McKenzie.

A 17-year-old youth and a 19-year-old man were arrested in Nottingham this morning and remain in police custody.

Mr McKenzie was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries during the early hours of Saturday. He died later that day.

A post-mortem examination found that the 19-year-old, from Nottingham, died from gunshot wound.

New leads in murder inquiry

Detectives are following up new information in the hunt for the killer of 19-year-old Malakai McKenzie.

The teenager from Nottingham was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre by members of the public on Saturday afternoon with serious injuries. He died later that day.

A Home Office post-mortem examination said he died from a gunshot wound.

Warrants were carried out at two addresses in Nottingham yesterday, but no arrests have been made.

Detectives believe Mr McKenzie’s death is linked to reports of a firearm being discharged outside the Hubb, in Hucknall Road around 3.30am on Saturday morning.

Officers have been looking through CCTV footage and believe the killers left the scene in a car which drove up Hucknall Road.

Inquiries are continuing today in the hunt for the killer of 19-year-old Malakai McKenzie.

Murder victim named

Police have named the man who died after an incident outside a Nottingham pub. It's thought he was shot.

Malakai McKenzie, 19, from Nottingham, was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. A Home Office post-mortem examination is taking place.

Police believe Mr McKenzie was involved in an incident in the car park of The Hubb public house, in Hucknall Road.

The car park of the pub is still cordoned off.

Police want to talk to people who were at a party at the pub.

“The circumstances and motive surrounding this murder are still unclear and we are still in the early stages of the inquiry.“We are continuing to speak to a number of witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who attended the party at The Hubb.

“The family of Mr McKenzie are devastated by his shocking and tragic death and are being supported by a family liaison officer."
