Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to visit Leicestershire after setting up a new motor racing team which will be based in the county.
The team will compete in Formula E, a new global electric motor-racing series, which will have its global headquarters at Donington Park.
Donington Park has been announced as the global HQ for Formula E, the FIA’s new global electric motor-racing series.
Additionally, two teams - fronted by Hollywood A-lister Leonardo Di Caprio and Virgin supremo Richard Branson respectively - will use the circuit for their testing and development work.
Dozens of civil engineers and technicians have begun work on the new build, with around 150 highly technical racing engineers set to be working on site from May.
The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) contributed a £3.65m loan facility towards the £5.7m scheme to ensure the circuit was selected by Formula E.
An injured serviceman from Shropshire will take part in the notorious Dakar Rally in South America, starting this weekend.
Captain Tony Harris is part of the Race2Recovery team, the only disabled rally race team in the world.
It is the second year in a row he has been involved.
