Derbyshire police have asked for respect towards attendees at the funerals of six children who died in a fire in Derby.
The funerals of siblings Duwayne (13), Jade (10), John (9), Jack (8), Jesse (6) and Jayden Philpott (5) are due to take place tomorrow.
All of the children died as a result of the house fire which broke out on May 11th in Victory Road, Allenton.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill said:
"The day of the funeral will be a very sad day for the Philpott family, their friends, the local community and all those affected by this tragedy.
“The funeral will be an understandably difficult and emotional time and I would particularly ask that anyone attending and the media who cover the funeral respect the privacy of the family andmourners.”
The police also advised motorists that it would be sensible to avoid the immediate area between 9.30am and 1pm tomorrow to avoid delays.
“Understandably, with the six horse drawn hearses the funeral cortege will take time to travel from the Allenton area through the city to the church and then later on to the cemetery at Chaddesden where thechildren are being laid to rest.”
