Princess Anne to plant tree for woodland project

Princess Anne is visiting The Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods project in Leicestershire today.

The Princess is opening the Paralympic Grove, where one million trees will be planted to celebrate Team GB's success in the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Paralympic champion swimmer Ellie Simmonds is also at the event, where Princess Anne will plant an Oak tree, as a lasting legacy.

Princess Anne was in Leicestershire this morning to officially open new military kennel blocks at the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray.

The new blocks can accommodate 200 dogs and have a specially designed acoustic roof which reduces the noise of barking.

The dogs at the centre are trained for use in action in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Princess Anne's visit comes after the Ministry of Defence has been criticised for putting down some military dogs once their term of service has ended.

Princess Royal to open new military dog kennels

New military dog kennel blocks at Melton Mowbray, east Leicestershire, are due to be officially opened by Princess Anne today.

The Princess Royal, who in Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, will inspect the new kennels as well as watch a series of dog demonstrations.

The three new kennel blocks can house 200 dogs, and have been designed to reduce noise levels.

They also feature thermostatically-controlled heating, extractor fans and lighting.

Princess Anne arrives in Staffordshire

The Princess Royal is in Staffordshire this morning to visit a sailing club for children with severe disabilities. HRH Princess Anne is opening a new £500,000 boathouse at Rudyard Sailability near Leek.

The state of the art facility, equipped with hoists to help club members get in and out of boats, will give children more independence.

Princess Anne visited Northamptonshire Police’s new Criminal Justice Centre today.The Princess Royal toured the site in Pavilion Drive, Northampton, and visited the custody suite, charge room and intoximeter room.

Princess Anne was also introduced to officers and staff working at the centre, including representatives from the public protection, intelligence, and criminal investigation departments.The visit closed with the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate The Princess Royal’s visit.

Princess Anne will be visiting Coventry this afternoon (Thursday).

The Princess is learning about the 'Big Difference Fund' which delivers a grant scheme for people who require financial support for their water bills.

She will visit the Citizen Advice Bureau and Severn Trent Water, who created the scheme in partnership.
