A man from Northampton has been jailed after he raped and assaulted a women, who was walking alone close to the the town centre. 36 year old Gintas Burinskas, of Victoria Road, was sentenced to ten years in prison after admitting the charges at Northampton Crown Court.
Detectives have paid tribute to the victim who, they said, showed "tremendous courage" throughout the trial.
**"It's been an horrendous time for her. She's been through so much and it's been a long two years for her. Her life's been in effect on hold through it all. So with today's result hopefully she'll be able to move on with things a little bit more in the future. "
