A teenage heart patient who has campaigned to keep her local cardiac unit open, has been nominated for a top award.
Ria Pahwa, 14, from Leicester, has organised rallies and petitions to prevent the Glenfield Childrens heart unit from closing in Leicester and moving to Birmingham.
The government has now ordered a second review into the decision.
Ria Pahwa, the 14-year old who campaigned for the survival of the children's heart surgery unit at Glenfield Hospital, has been nominated for a Lord Lieutenant's award.
Ria, from Leicester, was born with a rare congenital heart condition and has undergone seven complicated procedures, the last of which caused a stroke.
She says her life is owed to the unit at Glenfield.
The scheme, which closes to entrants tonight, celebrates and rewards the achievements of young people in Leicestershire.
