Police investigating the death of 23-year-old Shane Watson from Sedgley are appealing for more witnesses who may have seen him on the night he was killed to contact them.

Mr Watson was in Monty's Bar on Friday 27th July through until the early hours of Saturday morning before being fatally assaulted in a nearby alleyway.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Harry Harrison says they have spoken to some people who were in the bar that night but believes many more could hold vital information:

"We understand Monty's was busy on the night Shane died and, although we've spoken to several witnesses, I'm sure more people may have seen what happened or may unwittingly be sitting on important information.

"I'd ask for anyone who was at Monty's on the night or in the vicinity around Springfield Grove between 1am and 4am where Shane was found seriously injured to contact us as soon as possible."

Shane's family released a heart-felt statement, thanking the public for their support and describing him as compassionate, caring and popular.

"We are grateful for witnesses that have so far come forward and would like to encourage others who may be able to help to do the same.

"He was his dad's best mate and the apple of his mum's eye. He always used to say that life is short and to have fun and create memories that make you smile."

Two teenagers aged 18 and 19 from Sedgley have been charged with Shane's murder and remanded in prison to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 22.
