Residents in Hednesford woke up to a winter wonderland this morning, as overnight snowfall blanketed the town.

Businesses in the East Midlands have been worst affected in the UK by the poor spring weather, according to the Federation of Small Businesses.

Local firms attracted 8.9 per cent fewer customers compared to March 2012. More than half of small businesses in the UK say last month's bad weather has lost them money.

Snow-stranded school trip students return home

A group of students from Wolverhampton who were stranded in Scotland for more than three days because of the extreme snow have described how they had to huddle together to keep warm.

The sixth formers from St Edmunds Catholic School and St Peter's Collegiate School were due back from their Geography field trip to the Isle of Arran on Friday. But then ferries to the mainland were cancelled, and they were stuck without heat and power. Chris Halpin reports.
