Hundreds of breast cancer patients are being asked to take part in a review of care at a hospital where a surgeon allegedly performed botched operations. Mr. Ian Paterson has been suspended by the General Medical Council.
The independent review will be carried out by the man who chaired the inquiry into the children's heart scandal in Bristol and led the Commons expenses watchdog.
Rebecca Brown, a solicitor from Russell Jones & Walker (part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers), has told ITV News that the victims of 'unnecessary' breast operations are positive about the opening of an inquiry into the treatments performed by Ian Paterson and how health chiefs managed complaints.
More than 700 patients who were treated at Solihull Hospital are now being urgently referred to specialists for new examinations.
