Mike Howitt is planning to hitch hike from Leicester to Cape Town to raise money for the charity who cared for his wife in her final hours. He says
"Everybody's mad but most people have the art of disguising it, someone said 'I can't work out if you're mad or insane' and I think it's a bit of both, but then life's fun isn't and I'm making the most of it"
An 80-year-old man from Leicester is preparing to hitch kike to Cape Town in South Africa to raise money for the hospice that cared for his wife before she died.
Mike Howitt will use his thumb to travel more than 8000 miles in less than three months.
