Vets were stunned when they found a melon-sized tumour inside a small dog in Leicester.
Jessie, a nine-year-old Jack Russell underwent surgery after the growth caused her abdomen to swell.
The dog's owner, Mandy Cracknell, 44, took Jessie into the vets where she had an ultrasound scan and X-rays which revealed a non-cancerous tumour.
The tumour weighed more than 20% of the dog's weight at 1.6kg. The vet who performed the operation to remove the growth from the dog's ovaries said he was surprised to find a tumour so big in such a small dog, though he added he had removed tumours as big as basketballs previously in larger dogs.
