The Business Secretary Vince Cable MP says Jaguar Land Rover is going from strength to strength.
"Jaguar Land Rover's creation of 800 new jobs in Solihull to support new product development is a welcome boost for the UK automotive industry.
"The company's investment of £2 billion this year and 8,000 new jobs over the last two years shows how JLR goes from strength to strength.
"With support from the Government's Regional Growth Fund, it's a clear demonstration of where the Government working in partnership with the private sector can make a real difference to the UK economy."
The Business Secretary Vince Cable has opened the first stage of a technology park which is expected to create 2,000 jobs in the next ten years.
Dr Cable flew in a helicopter around the site at MIRA near Nuneaton. He opened it by activating an army robot - which cut the ribbon. The vehicle - developed there - is normally used in warzones to find roadside bombs.
