West Brom manager Steve Clarke could be left counting the cost of the midweek international friendlies ahead of tomorrow's Premier League opener against Liverpool.

James Morrison and defender Jonas Olsson both returned from playing for their countries with slight injuries and are being assessed ahead of the weekend's match.

New signing Markus Rosenberg is unlikely to be fit in time while midfielder Graeme Dorrans remains on leave.

Provisional squad: Foster, Myhill, Reid, Olsson, Yacob, Ridgewell, Morrison, Long, El Ghanassy, Brunt, Thomas, Allan, Jara, Lukaku, Mulumbu, Gera, McAuley, Odemwingie, Dawson, Jones, Tamas, Fortune.

West Brom has completed the signing of Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old striker, who boasts an impressive goalscoring record in Germany, Spain and Holland, has penned a three-year deal after passing a Hawthorns medical.

He will wear the No.8 shirt.

The deal for Rosenberg, who was out of contract after leaving Werder Bremen in May, remains subject to international clearance.

Head coach Steve Clarke said: “I’m delighted to welcome Markus to the club.

“He is an experienced striker who has scored goals in three of Europe’s top leagues, as well as in the top European competitions, and is determined to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League.
