This is the latest invention from Lincolnshire's Colin Furze, a motorised pram and he just used it to set a new world record.

He broke the current world record for the fastest pram of 30mph today by hitting speeds of 50.5mph.

It is not Colin's first record attempt, in 2010 he achieved a world record for the fastest mobility scooter.

He also holds the record for the longest motorbike ever created a 14-metre-long bike.

A motorised pram might sound like a new invention...BUT...

Today we brought you the news of a man who's built the world's fastest motorised pram.

It got us thinking...has the Midlands seen inventions like this before..?

Well, apparently so.

In the early part of the 20th century, William Dunkley arrived in Birmingham as a young man from his home in Stratford-on-Avon.

He became known for producing Dunkley Prams, which were noted between the wars and just after for their high quality.

But one of his other innovations was a baby carriage known as the ‘Pramotor.’

His Royal Highness the Duke of York inspects a covered version of the 'pramotor'.

The pram was linked to a motorised one-wheeled scooter, meaning the more adventurous nanny could travel along at quite a pace.

They were not allowed on footpaths and had to ride on the roads along with other vehicles, making it a bit of a risk.
