Midlands swimmer breaks world record

Ellie Simmonds from Walsall broke a world record at the British Gas Swimming Championships in London this evening, securing an Olympic spot for the 200m individual medley.

The double Paralympic champion set a new world record of 3:08.14.

Sascha Kindred from Herefordshire also won the men's equivalent race, with a time of 2:48.44.
