A 24-year old student has died after being struck by an unmarked police car which was responding to reports of a stolen vehicle.
The man, from China, was studying at Birmingham City University.
Police say he stepped out onto the road outside Newtown shopping centre around 7pm last night.
He received treatment at the scene from the emergency services, but later died in hospital with severe head and back injuries.
He has not yet been named but his family have been told and are travelling to Birmingham.
