Full report into flood victim Mike Ellis

Retired teacher Mike Ellis was killed yesterday as heavy rain and thunderstorms lead to flash flooding across the Midlands.

A stream that is often dried up in June was overwhelmed by a torrent of water, causing the nearby country lane to turn into a raging river.

Friends of Mike Ellis say he lost his life when he abandoned his car on the lane and tried to get home across a field as the floodwaters rose, when he was swept away.
