Birmingham-born Chelsea footballer Daniel Sturridge is undergoing tests for viral meningitis.

The 22-year-old, who's been selected for the GB Olympic squad, was taken ill over the weekend.

People can recover from viral meningitis within a fortnight and Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo says Sturridge is hopeful of recovering in time for London 2012.

Sturridge played for Aston Villa and Coventry City as a youth player.
