Health officials are awaiting details of the cause of death of a patient suffering from Legionnaires' disease.
No further details were released about the person who died.
The patient was among 16 confirmed cases in the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
11 patients, all in their late 40s to mid 70s, are currently being treated at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for the disease.
Staff at the hospital say three patients have been discharged. Another is being treated at Leicester's Glenfield Hospital.
