Stoke City player Peter Crouch has been given a £1,000 fine for speeding.
The Premiership striker was given five penalty points after he was caught travelling at 49mph in a 30mph zone.
He was driving his £40,000 Range Rover Sport towards Macclesfield town centre at the time.
Magistrates were told how Crouch had received four penalty points for a separate speeding offence just two weeks earlier, leaving him only three points short of a ban.
The 31-year-old did not attend Macclesfield Magistrates Court yesterday but his solicitor entered a guilty plea on his behalf.
Crouch was given seven days to make the payment.
