It might still be August but Leicestershire County Council has already started to prepare for winter.
Around 7,500 tonnes of grit have been delivered to its barns, bringing the total stock to more than 16,000 tonnes (more than 12 Olympic-sized swimming pools).
More will land in Melton, Nailstone, Mountsorrel and Misterton over the next few months.
