Man in court over park car 'murder'

A 50-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a man who was knocked down by a car in a Tipton park.

Malcolm Parkes, 50-years-old, was charged with the murder of Terrence Powell last night and remanded in custody following a brief hearing at Sandwell Magistrates' Court in Oldbury.

Mr Powell from Wednesbury, died after being hit by a vehicle in Jubilee Park just before 8.00am yesterday.

Despite attempts to resuscitate the 58-year-old he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Malcolm Parkes from Tipton, is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court next Monday for a preliminary hearing.
